Dave is the owner of Lands & Forests Consulting. He is responsible for overseeing work provided by a dedicated staff of forestry professionals and his experienced office staff.
Forest management has been Dave’s passion for his entire career. His clients now include private landowners, municipalities, counties, Ontario Nature, Escarpment Biosphere Conservancy, Ontario Hydro and Conservation Authorities.

Dave has completed numerous Management Forest Tax Incentive Plans and will develop a functional and comprehensive woodlot plant that will meet each client’s personal goals and requirements.
Ecological Restoration of Oak Savanna and Tallgrass Prairie
Dave coordinates and directs the prescribed burn program at Lands & Forests Consulting. He has achieved continued success in prescribed burning for the recovery of endangered ecosystems throughout Ontario. Lands & Forests Consulting has carried out over 150 burns ranging in size from 1 ha to 50 ha across southern Ontario. Clients include Alderville First Nations, City of Toronto, City of Windsor, Royal Botanical Gardens, Grand River Conservation Authority and many others too numerous to mention.

Jesse Henrich, R.P.F

Jesse Henrich, Member of the Ontario Professional Foresters Association

As a valued employee of Lands & Forests Consulting since 2006, Jesse coordinates the tree marking division of the business on private and corporate woodlots, Grey and Bruce County forests and Conservation Authority properties. Jesse is also responsible for private woodlot management, tree marking prescriptions and assessments throughout southern Ontario. Jesse supervises tree planting and spraying crews. He takes part in the prescribed burns completed by Lands & Forests Consulting across southern Ontario as a SP-100 trained wildland fire fighter.

He is an Ontario Certified Tree Marker and is part of the team at most of the marking projects for Lands & Forests Consulting in the Grey and Bruce County areas. As a Managed Forest Plan Approver, Jesse is busy developing forest manage-ment plans for many private landowners taking part in the Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program (MFTIP). Jesse is certified as a Forestry Exterminator under The Pesticides Act of Ontario and is an Ontario Certified chainsaw operator.

John Todd, ARPF

John looks after properties located in the southwest and central region of Ontario. John is responsible for sustainable tree marking and private woodlot sales, harvest supervision & woodlot theft investigation, realty assessment and forest management planning for the Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program. John has 31 years experience with the Ministry of Natural Resources and 10 years private forest management expertise and is a Province of Ontario Certified Tree Marker.
John is a licensed Fisheries & Wildlife Management Technician, a component essential to Lands & Forests Consulting in managing ecological and environmental restoration habitat forest and wildfire.
Lands & Forests Consulting mark and market standing timber on private and municipally owned woodlots in the southwest and central region of Ontario. John has completed many Managed Forest Tax Incentive Plans developing unique and comprehensive woodlot plans that will meet each landowner’s personal goals and objectives.
As a certified Instructor for the Ontario Police College, John has operated as a Provincial Offences Prosecutor, Investigator and Interviewing Specialist for the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Eleanor Reed, R.P.F.

As operations manager for Lands & Forests Consulting’s Orillia Office, Eleanor is responsible for tree marking, private woodlot sales and harvest supervision for landowners. Lands & Forests Consulting markets standing timber on private and municipally owned woodlots in the southwest and central region of Ontario.
Eleanor carries out forest management planning for the Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program in the County of Simcoe, the City of Kawartha Lakes and the Regions of Haliburton and Muskoka. Eleanor has completed many Managed Forest Tax Incentive Plans developing unique and comprehensive woodlot plans that will meet each landowner’s personal goals and objectives.
As an Instructor at Sir Sandford Fleming College in Lindsay in the Forest Technician Program, Eleanor has taught the subjects of Entomology & Pathology, Soils, Tree & Shrub Identification and Urban Forestry..
With Lands & Forests Consulting, Eleanor achieves continued success for the recovery of endangered habitat throughout Ontario by applying fire in ecological, silvicultural and wildlife restoration applications. These prescribed burns have taken place across Southern Ontario.
Eleanor is a member of the Carden Field Naturalists, is involved in the local Maple Syrup Producers Association and helps organize the Lindsay Woodlot Conference.

Fred Bruin

Fred Bruin, Canadian Certified Fire Boss, Ministry of Natural Resources

Integrated prescribed burn specialist with Lands & Forests Consulting
Dedicated to ecological recovery of endangered habitat for the restoration of oak savanna and tallgrass prairie by prescribing Ecological and Silvicultural Prescribed Burns, Fred Bruin played an important role in defining the prescribed burn program in Ontario with the Ministry of Natural Resources.
Fred presently manages the City of Toronto Parks Oak Savanna Restoration Program and the City of Windsor Parks Oak Savanna/Tall Grass Restoration Program utilizing the forestry and prescribed burn services of Lands & Forests Consulting.
Fred has international experiences in Fire Management projects, training and wild land fire planning.
Ecological Restoration of Oak Savanna and Tallgrass Prairie & Wildfire Suppression
During his career with the Ministry of Natural Resources he served as a Provincial Project Fire Boss in Ontario and throughout Canada. Fred has completed all existing fire suppression and fire management courses both certificate and diploma programs presented by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. Fred’s training and vast experience in both wild land and prescribed fire management allows him to train fire staff at the highest level. His field experience as past Large Fire Project Manager for the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources has afforded him the skills and ability to manage any fire situation.
Fred was certified by the Province of Ontario as a Fire Boss Five, which is the highest certification for Fire Managers in Canada. He has forty-two years experience in fire management, thirty-one years with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and has supervised major project fires throughout Canada for Ontario.
Fred has represented Ontario and Canada on several international fire training missions and has managed the Southern Ontario Prescribed Burns program for the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources.
Fred has successfully managed over eighty prescribed burns for the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources as well as one hundred and forty burns with Lands & Forests Consulting.

Brent Forbes

Brent joined the Lands & Forests Consulting team in July 2012 and brings a strong background in forest management through his post-secondary education and past field experience. Brent is involved with tree marking on private woodlots as well as county forests and conservation authority properties. Brent can also help you achieve your forest management goals through the development of forest management plans, tree marking prescriptions and Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program plans (MFTIPs).

David Gillingham

David came to Lands & Forests Consulting in 2008, bringing with him a variety of past employment experiences. His forestry interests were first sparked while working in the Algoma region of northern Ontario. Here he was part of the management team for a privately owned 8000 acre forest and recreational property. David has continued his pursuit of forestry related knowledge by obtaining a variety of training, certification and field experience. These courses and achievements have aided and equipped him to perform many responsibilities at Lands & Forests Consulting. David has gained experience by tree marking on all types of properties and forests, writing MFTIP plans, preparing tree marking prescriptions and intent to cut forms, completing aggregate inspections and compliance reports and running the spraying component of Lands & Forests’ tree planting program.
